The death took place after a short illness at his residence, 48 Erkindale Drive, Durrow, on Wednesday 20th May of Joe Clooney. A member of a highly and much respected family, Joe was very well liked by everyone and was a proper gentleman. He will be sadly missed by his family, relatives, neighbours and everyone who knew the Clooney family. Predeceased by his wife Nancy and son Paul, Joe is survived by six sons, Joseph, Eddie, John, Fintan, Paul and Damien, brother Oliver, sisters Ann ,Christina, Breda, Essie, Elizabeth, Eileen, daughters in law, four grandchildren, nieces ,nephews, relatives and a large group of friends and neighbours. The remains were reposed at Phelan Funeral Home where rosary was held on Thursday night followed by removal to his home. On Friday Joe’s was removed to the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Durrow for Requiem Mass followed by Burial in the family plot in the adjoining graveyard. The huge attendance at his Wake, Rosary, Removal and Requiem Mass and burial was a testament to the high esteem that the late Joe and the Clooney Family was held with within the community and to offer to the Family their hearth felt sympathy at the death of Joe. Good bye Old Friend and may you rest in peace.
