A coffee morning in aid of the Irish Cancer Society Daffodil Day will be held at John & Claire Hartnett’s, Capard on Saturday March 21 from 10am to 1pm. Free draw on the day. All support welcome.

Tom O’Loughlin RIP

Rosenallis GAA extend deepest sympathies to the family of Tom O’Loughlin (formerly Meelick, Rosenallis) who passed away recently. Tom was a former chairman & manager of the club when they won county championships in 1984, ‘86 & ‘89, bringing us from Junior B to Senior hurling a great achievement. He was a driving force in the club in those days and the club are indebted to his unbelievable commitment & service to Rosenallis GAA. Ar dheis de go raibh a ainm.


Deepest sympathies are offered to the O’Loughlin family on the sad passing on February 27 of Tom. He was widely known and will be sadly missed, thoughts and prayers are extended at this sad time.

Clonaslee Comhaltas

Music classes every Thursday from 6pm in the community centre with two teachers. Instruments taught are mandolin, tin whistle, banjo, concertina, fiddle and button accordian. Beginner classes for children and adults, €6 weekly. CallJohn 085-2851772

St Patrick’s Day

The committee invite individuals, schools, businesses and community groups to take part in the St Patrick’s Day Parade. Float prizes are 1st €75, 2nd €50. Theme is ‘Springtime’. Walking floats meet at the Green School and vehicle floats meet at Johnsgrove. Parade starts at 3.30pm, tea and refreshments in Rosenallis Community Centre afterwards. The Church Gate collection raised €377.89, all are thanked for their support.

Suicide Alertness

Free workshop to build individual and community awareness of positive mental health and address suicide prevention. Thursday March 26 in Rosenallis GAA Club Rooms, 7.30pm - 10.30pm. All welcome. Tea and coffee .

slieve bloom assoc

A meeting of the Slieve Bloom Association in the ICA Hall Mountmellick recently, had a report on the crowning of the ‘Goat Queen’ and the trip up to the Bracket Stones on Spink Hill for the Festival of Imbolc. The Memorial Plaque for founder member Paddy Lowry is to be erected in Kinnitty at a ceremony held in conjunction with the 40th Anniversary celebrations on Sunday, April 12, with Meal and entertainment, contact Mary at 057 862 8650.

Next meeting is on Thursday, March 19 in the Poet’s Cottage, Camross, at 8:30pm when details for the 40th Celebration will be finalised.
