THE LATE MARY MILLER (NEE O’CONNELL)

The death has occured on Friday, February 27 of Mary O’Connell, The Fields, Vicarstown, in her 91st year peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise surrounded by her loving family. She is predeceased by her husband Richard (Dick) and is deeply regretted by her daughter Julia, son Chris, brothers Jack and Des, daughter-in-law Cannie, grandaughters Kate, Ellen and Grace, extended family and friends.

Her remains were reposing at her residence until removal on Sunday morning from her home to the Church of the Assumption, Vicarstown and burial took place immediately afterwards in Moyanna Cemetery.

STRADBALLY ANGLING CLUB

A committee meeting of the Stradbally Angling Club will be held in St Mary’s Hall on Monday, March 16 commencing at 8pm sharp. All members to attend and new members welcome. Membership fees are now due and can be got from the committee or at the lake.

ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADES

Three parades will take place in the parish, on Tuesday, March 17 Stradbally, Vicarstown and Timahoe. All parishioners invited to parade to their community mass, Vicarstown 9.30am, Timahoe 10.30am and Stradbally 11.30am. The theme of this years parade is ‘Green White and Gold’. All are invited to participate.

THE LATE JOHN (JOHNNIE) KANE

The death occurred on Monday, March 2 of John (Johnnie) Kane, Rosmullen, Vicarstown. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Sheila, daughter Susan, son Patrick, sister Peg, daughter-in-law Tina, granddaughters Kinsey, Sarah, Laura, Orla and Caoimhe, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends.

His remains were reposing at his residence on Wednesday until removal to the Church of the Assumption in Vicarstown and following funeral mass on Thursday burial took place immediately afterwards in Moyanna cemetery.

PARISH MISSION STRADBALLY

‘Come & See Go & Tell’ is the theme for The Parish Mission opening in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Saturday, on Saturday, March 21 at 6.30pm mass in Stradbally to Friday, March 27 directed by the Vincentian Fathers.

LAOIS HUNTER TRIALS

The Laois Hunt Hunter Trials will be held in Stradbally Hall on commencing at 10am. On Saturday, April 4.

PASSION PLAY

Passion Play Easter 2015 in St Ann’s Hall, Ballylinan on March 27, 29, 31 and April 1 and 3. This production is based on the Oberammergau Passion Play opening wht Our Lord’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem, culminating with the resurrection. CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

A church gate collection for autism will be taken at all masses on the weekend March 21/22.
