Late Noel TURLEY

Condolences to the family of the late Noel Turley Foxrock, Dublin and Vicarstown who died on May 12 peacefully after a short illness in St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Dublin. Noel playe rugby for Ireland in the 1960s and lined out for Annanough in the senior foot final with Annanough in 1960. Husband of Catherine (nee O’Leary) and of the late Kathleen (nee Doyle), beloved father of Peter, Kevin and Jean and brother of the late Michael sister Philo, brothers Tony, Gerard and John, extended family and many friends. Reposed at home. Removal to Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Foxrock for funeral mass.


The death occurred on Sunday, May 10 of Mr Clement Joseph Kehoe, Publican, Main Street, Stradbally, surrounded by his wife and family at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Sadly missed by his loving wife Evelyn, sons Paul, Niall, Mark and Clem (Junior) daughters Nicola and Nessa, brother Brendan, sisters Pat, Eileen and Sheila, brother in law Tom, sisters in law, sons in law Joe and Damien, daughters in law Genie and Frances, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and large circle of friends. Predeceased by his brothers Arien and Sean and his sister Bernadette. His remains were reposing at his home until removal to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Stradbally on Tuesday and interment took place in Oakvale Cemetery Stradbally.


The Stradbally Country Market will hold a coffee morning on Saturday, May 30 at their weekly market (10.30am to 1pm, St Patrick’s Hall, opposite Napper Tandys) to raise funds for the earthquake-stricken people of Nepal. All proceeds will be forwarded to Concern. S0upport greatly appreciated.


The AGM of the Swan/Wolfhill/Luggacurren Wind Awareness Group will take place in Luggacurren Hall on Wednesday, May 20 at 8.30pm.

The Irish Caner Society Church Gate collection will be taken up on the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, May 23 and 24 at all masses. Your continued support would be much appreciated.

The death occurred on Tuesday, May 12 of Mary McDonald (nee Davis) Ballintubbert peacefully at home. Deeply regretted by her loving husband John, sons John and Anthony, daughters Maureen, Hannah, Elizabeth, Sharon and Donna, brothers, sister, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and friends. Her remains were reposing at her residence until removal on Thursday to St. Joseph’s Church, Ballyadams for requiem mass and burial took place afterwards in St Joseph’s Cemetery.


Well done to our u/10 football team who won their match last week and aré out again this Tuesday in Stradbally. A win will put them into the county final.The area athletic finals is set for Thursday, May 21 in The Lawn with registration from 5.30pm. First race is 6pm sharp. All children attending school and loving in our area welcome. Many thanks to St Colmans for hosting the handwriting county final last Friday which we had in excess of 50 children from around the county attending. Also St Colmans are hosting the model making final next Wednesday, May 20. A huge thank you to all involved and any child wishing to participate parents please call 086 7988855.


Congratulations to the boys and girls of St Colmans school, Stradbally who received their First Holy Communion last weekend. First Holy Communion will be held in St Michael’s Church, Timahoe on Saturday, May 23 at 11am.


Congratulations and very good wishes to Paddy and Mary Laffan, Ballycoolan who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and were joined by family and friends at a gala celebration event in the Killeshin Hotel recently.
