LIBRARY birthday

CAMOGIE FORUM

O’Moore’s Camogie Club are holding a forum on Friday May 22 in Ballyfin hall at 7pm, on their 5 year plan to sustain club stability and ensure future success. Tom Jones will chair discussion. All welcome to attend and contribute.

AFC AGM

Laois Fleadh competitions take place in Portlaoise in the old CBS and old tech near the Dunamaise Theatre from Friday 29 to Sunday May 31. More events will run that week in Portlaoise. See Laois County Fleadh on facebook.

Rosary recited at 7pm each Sunday in the cemetery for the month of May. The annual cemetery mass will be celebrated on Sunday May 31 at 7pm. All welcome.

EDMUNDSON HOMECOMING

An open meeting about plans for the William Edmundson Homecoming festival in Mountmellick and Rosenallis this July will be held in the Arts Centre on Thursday May 21 at 8pm.  All are welcome.

NO LIMITS CENTRE

The No Limits Ability Centre in Ballyfin holds an open day on Thursday May 21 from 11am to 4pm. This is a volunteer led centre for people with special needs. All welcome along.

LAOIS GAA DRAW

The Rock GAA had a winner in the May monster draw, congrats to Jean Feery on winning €500. Thanks to all who support the club by buying & selling tickets. Final draw June 5.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Meeting is on Wednesday May 20 at 10.30 in the MDA, all members invited to attend.

The club’s Bealtaine afternoon is on Wednesday May 27 in the Macra Hall, 2pm to 5pm with music, raffle, refreshments. Day trip to Arigna Mines and Strokestown in early June, members interested can contact a committee member.

Activities: Boccia is on Monday and Friday nights in the Macra Hall 7.30pm to 8.30pm. It is hoped to send a team to DCU on June 6 to the Go For Life Games. Tuesdays: aqua aerobics in Portlaoise Leisure Centre at noon (free bus from MDA at 11.15am). Thursdays: music and song in St Vincent’s Hospital. slieve bloom agm

The meeting of the Slieve Bloom Association on May 21 has been cancelled. The AGM has been further postponed and will now be held in the Community Hall, Kinnity at 8:30pm, June 25.

LATE EAMON MORAN

The death occurred on Wednesday May 6 in Dublin of Eamon Moran, brother of Kay Cullen of O’Moore St. Requiem Mass was celebrated in Kimmage Manor on Friday with burial afterwards in St Joseph’s cemetery Mountmellick. Eamon is mourned by his wife Eileen (née Moss of Derrycloney) family, relatives and friends to whom the sincere sympathy of the community is extended.

LATE ted DEMPSEY

There was much regret at the death of Edward Dempsey of The Rock Kilmainham on Monday May 11. Ted will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Ted was predeceased by his son Tony.

Remains reposed at his residence until removal to St Joseph’s Church on Thursday morning May 14. Requiem Mass was celebrated at noon with burial afterwards to St Joseph’s cemetery. Ted is mourned by his wife Lucia, sons and daughters Marie, Yvonne, Eric, Philomena, Timothy and Noel, family, relatives and friends to whom the sincere sympathy of the community is extended.s
