LAOIS Hospice Foundation has been the beneficiary of in excess of €700,000 from the sponsored Road Runs staged annually since 1996 by Laois Vintage Limited.
And Laois Vintage Secretary Noelle Graham is looking forward to adding significantly to this figure during this year’s 17th Road Run which takes place on Saturday, August 18.
Speaking at the launch of the Road Run in the Gandon Inn, Ms Graham said the run was good fun for a good cause.
“The Sponsored Run has always been a great day out. We’ve had an excellent response each year and we again look forward to seeing all of the old familiar faces and of course some new one’s.
“It is only through our dedicated vintage enthusiasts, bucket collectors, and sponsors, who so graciously and generously give of their time and money, that we’ve been able to raise so much financial assistance for our local Hospice. We guarantee that all monies received will be donated directly to Laois Hospice and every donation will go exclusively towards palliative care.
“This year’s car run will take us on a much requested return visit to Jimmy Boland’s Museum in Naas, and for our tractor enthusiasts we will be organising a more leisurely drive to Abbeyleix via Ballyroan.”
Participants will set off from Treacy’s Bar & Restaurant, The Heath from 10am on August 18 with tractors returning at 3.30pm and cars at 4pm, where complimentary meals will be served, and commemorative plaques presented to each participant.
The official closing date for receipt of entries is Friday, August 3 and completed entry forms should be forwarded to Noelle Graham, Brockley Park, Stradbally, Co Laois. Anyone not having received an entry form is, of course, very welcome to join the run, and a donation towards Laois Hospice would be appreciated.
