The launch of a SS Peter & Paul’s official cemetery committee launch Tuesday, March 5 takes place in the Portlaoise parish centre at 7.30pm. The committee will discuss proposals to enhance the graveyard.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

Portlaoise Library presents an evening of Irish music, poetry and dance on Wednesday March 13 at 4.45pm.

Fair Trade

A meeting in the Parish Centre takes place on March 5 at 11am for Portlaoise school pupils. Guest speakers include: Ann Catherine Kane and Boune Dumar Bousso also who are both from Senegal. Fair Trade week runs from February 27 to March 10.

Divine Mercy Mass

This month on Tuesday March 5. Celebrant Fr Aidan Carroll. Rosary at 7pm followed by mass and benediction. Blessing with St Faustina relic. All welcome. Note change of evening.

Parish Lotto

Congrats to the Jackpot winner, Billy Kelly who one €20,000 in the Portlaoise Parish Lotto when numbers were drawn on Thursday, February 21. Billy’s wife Peggy won the promoters prize of €2,000. There was no jackpot winner when the numbers were drawn on Thursday, February 28. The numbers drawn were 2, 6, 7, 20. The 22 Match 3s won €46each.

Kilminchy EGM

An Extraordinary General Meeting of the Kilminchy Management Company will be held at The Killeshin Hotel on Friday March 15 at 7pm. The EGM has been arranged by a group of residents who intend to pass special resolutions to remove the current directors of KMC Ltd, elect new directors and to put a KMC Ltd committee in place, representing each area in Kilminchy, to work alongside the directors in managing the estate. LATE KEVIN Fitzpatrick

Condolences to the family of the late Kevin Fitzpatrick of St Christophers, Dublin Road, Portlaoise, who passed away peacefully on February 28 peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Drominín Nursing Home, Stradbally. Beloved husband of Maureen, and dear father to Eamon, Maura, Careena, Francis, Aidan, and Michael he is also sadly missed by his loving sisters Bee and Mary extended family relatives and friends. Reposing at his residence with Requiem mass last Saturday morning in SS Peter and Paul’s Church with interment afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.


A public information meeting on the Property/Family Home Tax is being held in the Parish Centre, Portlaoise on Tuesday March 12 at 8pm. The meeting is being hosted by Sinn Féin TD, Brian Stanley and all are welcome to attend.
