THE official launch of the Laois Vintage Limited’s upcoming sponsored road run in aid of the Laois Hospice Foundation took place on July 12 at the Gandon Inn Hotel, Emo.
The sponsored run will take place on Saturday, August 17, from Treacys Restaurant and Bar, The Heath, at 10am. This premier sponsored road run, now in its 18th year, has enjoyed outstanding success over the years, and organisers look forward to seeing all of the old familiar faces as well as some new ones for 2013.
This year’s run will take in a visit to Loughton House and Gardens in Moneygall, home to the Minister for Health, Dr James Reilly and his wife Dorothy. There will also be an opportunity to view part of the scenery of the county on a leisurely drive, this year to the town of Mountmellick, and organisers are hopeful the recent glorious sunshine will remain.
All vehicles will return to Treacys between 3.30pm and 4pm, where complimentary meals will be served and commemorative plaques distributed to each participant.
Over the years this vintage road run has become a very important fundraising event, and it is only through dedicated vintage enthusiasts, bucket collectors and sponsors that the group have been able to raise so much financial assistance for the local hospice.
The official closing date for entries is Friday, August 2, and completed entry forms should be forwarded to Noelle Graham, Brockley Park, Stradbally. Anyone not having received an entry form is very welcome to join, however a donation on the day towards Laois Hospice will be appreciated.
Further details can be obtained by calling Noelle on 057 8625341 or 086 8189204.
