YOUTH CAFE OPEN NIGHT

Youth Work Ireland Laois you like to invite all parents in County Laois with children 10-25 years, to come and visit the new Portlaoise Youth Cafe which will be opening soon to all the young people of Laois. The open evening will be held on Tuesday, October 30 from 7.30-8.30pm. This is an opportunity for parents to see the new Youth Cafe while also gaining insight into Youth Work Ireland Laois’ programmes and policies and future events to be held within the town and county.

FG REFERENDUM

Laois Young Fine Gael are hosting a Public Information Meeting on the Children’s Rights Referendum in the Maldron (Midway) Hotel on Friday, November 2 at 8pm. Charlie Flanagan TD and Senator Jillian Van Turnhout will be speaking and answering questions on the night. More speakers to be announced nearer the event as well! We will be discussing the upcoming referendum on children’s rights, what the proposed changes to the constitution are, why they are being proposed and the effects of the changes will be. LAOIS BIRDWATCH

The Laois branch of BirdWatch Ireland will meet again on Wednesday evening 31 October. Kathryn Finney will address this meeting, about her work with Birdwatch Ireland on the Shannon Callows. We will follow up with a visit, led by Kathryn, to the Callows on Saturday 24 November. The meeting will be at the Portlaoise Parish Centre starting at 8pm. It is open to everyone with an interest in birds, and entry is free of charge. We will start the night with refreshments, in order to welcome new attendees.

The group present Keane and Scream, a tribute to John B Keane. The group will perform excerpts from some of John B Keanes finest works to mark the Irish playwrights tenth anniversary of his death.
