Laois Rally sport club are proud to announce the second annual Heartlands Rally which will take place around Portlaoise on June 10 in association with Laois County Council and O’Loughlin’s Hotel, Portlaoise.
The club will provide a marshall’s training night on Wednesday, May 23 in the Outback, Grellan Delaney’s Bar. The club will launch this year’s rally on Saturday, May 19 in Rally HQ, O’Loughlin’s Hotel, at 7.30pm. There will be a sponsored beard shave on the night in association with the Irish Kidney Association. All are welcome.

Condolences to the family of the late Chris Clarken of Aisling, Mosse Lane, Portlaoise who passed away peacefully on April 22 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Mary and loving father to Moya, Jim, and Sharon he is also deeply regretted by brother Andy extended family and former colleagues in the CBS. Removal from the Chapel of Repose at the Regional Hospital, Portlaoise to SS Peter and Pauls Church for requiem mass last Wednesday followed by burial in SS Peter and Pauls Cemetery.

Condolences to the family of the late Vera (Veronica) Downey (née Daly) peacefully in her 90th year at her daughter Rebecca’s residence, Sheffield Avenue, Portlaoise, predeceased by her husband Jack. Deeply regretted by her daughters Rebecca (Reba) and Rhona, her sister Philomena (O’Neill), grandchildren extended family, relatives and friends. Reposed at her daughter Rebecca’s residence with removal last Wednesday to St Peter and Paul’s Church for requiem mass on Thursday. Burial immediately afterwards in Ratheinska Cemetery.
ORDER OF MALTA
Congratulations to the Portlaoise Order of Malta cadets who recently travelled to Cavan to compete in the regional first aid and health and home nursing competitions. Our cadet under 13 boy idividual Conor Whelan came in first place. Our under 16 health and home nursing team made up of Jessica Weiss and Rachel Barry also came in first place.Our under 13 health and home nursing team made up of Lauren Adams Lynett and Mollie O Connor also came in first place. Congratulations also to our brainwave team who took first place Jessica Weiss, Hannah Downey, Zoe Whelan and Rachel Barry. Congratulations to Daryl Mason who came first in cadet leader of the year compations. They all go on to repersent the region in the all Irelands in June. A very good day was had by all and a very big thank you to all the other cadets and leaders for all their help and support. Also we wish to congratulate Jessica Weiss and Sean Weiss who recently were awarded the director’s badage at a ceremony held in Dublin.
