On Sunday, May 6 Ballyroan Parents Association in conjunction with Ballyroan Abbey Juvenile Gaa Club, hosts an inaugural Family Fun Day.

Both organisations have come together to help raise funds to help reduce the burden on parents nowadays. The U/14 team is taking part in the Féile this June and the U/10 team have reached the final of the Community games and funds raised will help out with those. Both schools in the village will also benefit with funds going to help out with activities and also to help reduce the back to school costs.

Signs have been put up to advertise the day and it would be great to see a big crowd there. There are U8 and U10 blitzs organised for the kids and people will get the opportunity to view the emerging talent.

A schools art competition has been well underway and with the “Design your own School” theme we are in for some amazing sights. Some feedback has indicated swimming pools and adventure parks being part of the design structures and by the sounds of things there will be no problem getting kids to go to school if any of these designs are built!

There will also be the chance for local businesses and crafts to showcase their work and slots are filling up quickly. There will be a local Irish Dancing School showcasing their talent. The boys and girls will also be manning stalls selling books, cds, farm produce, bric a brac, pre loved Gaa gear and much more with plenty of bargains to be had.

There will also be the usual fun day activities, Bouncing Castles, Bucking Bronco, Facepainting, Dog Show and numerous sideshows. Music during the fun day will be by local Abbeyleix band Abbeyfolk.

The fun day begins at 1pm and continues till 6pm and everyone will be keeping their fingers crossed for good weather.
