Eucharistic Ministers

Training for new Eucharistic Ministers in Portlaoise Parish commences for both liturgical and hospital Minister on Tuesday’s November 20/27 and December 4 in the Prayer Room SS Peter & Paul’s Church. New minister’s will be contacted.

GOSPEL CHOIR

The Portlaoise Gospel Choir will sing at 12.30 pm mass in St Peter and Pauls ChurcH on Sunday, December 16 and will also sing at a concert in St Peters Church of

Ireland at 6.30 pm the same evening. On Sunday, December 23 they will sing in Shaen Hospital from 1.30-2.30 pm and in in the Kyle shopping centre from 3-6pm. At 8pm the choir will participate in a carol service along with other choirs at St Peter and Pauls parish Church Portlaoise.

Portlaoise Pantomime Group will present their 29th annual production “Jack and the Beanstalk” in the Dunamaise Arts Centre Portlaoise. The panto runs in January from 19-26. Bullying talk

Aine Lynch, the CEO of the National Parents Council Primary (NPC), will be speaking on the topic of “Bullying” at the Parish Centre, Portlaoise from 7:30pm-10:00pm (coffee/tea from 7:00pm) on Monday, December 3. Laois ARCH Club

Laois ARCH Club Christmas Party takes place at the Portllaoise Heritage Hotel on Thursday, November 29 from 8pm-11pm. Music by The Jury and the theme is ‘Red & Sparkling! The Club is a social club for adults with an intellectual disability and all are welcome to come along and join in the fun. Cost is €10 which includes supper. Santa is expected to make an appearance so root out something red to wear, add a bit of sparkle and put on your dancing shoes for a great night out!

LAOIS BIRDWATCH

The Laois branch of BirdWatch Ireland meets on Wednesday, November 28 at the Portlaoise Parish Centre at 8pm. Local botanist and bird expert Hugh Shepherd will talk to the meeting on “Feeding Birds in the Garden in Winter”. Hugh’s talk will includes bird feeders and the management of the countryside and garden to provide natural foods.

Portlaoise Tidy Towns is holding their table quiz in Grellan Delaneys on Wednesday November 28. All monies raised will be used to further enhance the image of Portlaoise on 2013.
