A major cleaning job and some small restoration work have taken place on the organ in St Clare’s church. This work was carried out during the past week at a cost of €2,700. It was necessary to maintain the lovely organ to its high standard following major restoration work undertaken a while back by Fr John Fingleton.


The Graiguecullen parade will be led by the Killeshin Pipe Band. All taking part in the Parade are asked to assemble in the Town Park at 10.30am. Parade begins at 11am and will travel to St Clare’s Church for 11.30am Mass via Colclough Ave, St Clare’s Rd, Pearse Rd, Maher Rd, 98 Street and Maryborough St. All houses are asked to put out flags and all taking part are asked to bring banners, costumes etc. to make the Parade as colourful as possible. We ask people not to park in the Town Park. Parking is available in Graiguecullen G.F.C,

Killeshin Parade

This year Killeshin holds its 29th St Patrick’s Day Parade. As usual the Parade will leave the Hall at 9.30am for 10.15am Mass in Holy Cross. All clubs and organisations are invited to be part of the celebration and to assemble at the hall at 9am with flags, banners, sashes, jerseys, costumes etc. to make the event as colourful as possible. The Parade will be led by the Pipe Band and the School Band.


The annual draw will take place in the Thatch Bar on Saturday, March 16. Please return cards before that date. Cards are still available from Thatch Bar and the Parish Centre. The Parish Pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place from Monday, July 1 to Saturday, July 6. If interested please contact Tully’s Travel.


The Big Trad Train, comprising 20 musicians, four vocalists, singing soul, jazz, blues brothers, funk and much more are in concert in the Talbot Hotel on Wednesday, April 3 at 8pm. A tea party with ‘Pervish’ takes place in St Fiacc’s House on Thursday, April 4 from 5pm to 7pm. ‘Pervish’ have played at Electric Picnic 2012, and their show with music song and dance have played to sell out gigs nationwide. It costs €10 and tickets available from St Fiacc’s Cafe or from Vonnie at 0863629516. Profits to St Fiacc’s House.


Following the great success of the supper dance last year we are holding it again this year on Friday, April 12 in St Fiacc’s Hall. Supper will be followed by a cabaret and dance with an array of local artists taking part. This year the variety night will be in aid of Graiguecullen/Killeshin Lourdes Invalid Fund who takes over 40 people each year to Lourdes. We are seeking volunteers to host a table of ten. Daffodil Day takes place on Friday, March 22. The committee need small baskets for displays. These can be left into the Graiguecullen Parish Centre.


St Fiacc’s School Reunion will this year marks the 21 year anniversary of the official opening of the school. To mark the occasion there is a very special weekend of reminiscences and memories planned for the June Bank Holiday weekend. These will include a School Open Day and entertainment on May 31, a football blitz and night out on Saturday, June 1 and a special Mass in St Clare’s Church on Saturday evening, June 1 at 6.30pm. Kick off your St Patrick’s Day with some traditional music, fun and craic in Killeshin Hall next Sunday after 10.15am mass in aid of Killeshin Ladies GAA. Bouncing castles, colouring competition and lots of prizes to be won on the day.

The Parish is offering a Baptism Preparation Evening to all parents seeking Baptism for their child. This meeting will take place once a month in our Parish Centre from 7pm to 8.30pm on Monday, March 25. While this evening is optional, we strongly encourage parents to avail of the meeting as we are anxious to assist them in any way we can at this special time.


Boccia is a competitive sport similar to bowls. It is an inclusive sport that may be enjoyed by people of all abilities. It’s on Thursdays in St Fiacc’s Hall from 5 to 6pm for 10 to 18 year olds.
