Sincere thanks to the Pupils, Parents, Sponsors, Teachers, Parents Council and Friends of Scoil Bhride Girls NS for your continued loyal support at our recently held Jumble Sale & Raffle. The event was a great success and we would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year.


Stemming from the success and interest in the Mountrath Heritage Photo Exhibition and METAC’s regular Photography Course (tutored by Alf Harvey), there is now a new Camera Club for people from Mountrath and the surrounding areas. Whether it is digital, film or on your phone, there’s no excuse anymore for hiding your talent on your PC or in the drawer at home! Meetings are twice a month on Tuesday evenings. Next meeting will be in the New Year, in METAC, Portlaoise Rd on Tuesday, January 15 at 8pm. Theme is ‘Christmas’ in 8 x 6 size. 1 photo per person. New members always welcome. 20th St Stephen’s Day Walk in aid of Laois Hospice leaves The Community Centre Clonaslee at 12 noon. Long walk(10 miles) short walk (3 miles). Sponsopship cards available from Sheila Bourke on 05 786 48084.


The knitting club continues to meet every Friday morning 10:30-12:30pm all welcome.


The club is holding a Christmas social night in the Mountrath Golf Club on Saturday, December 29 from 9pm. Music & refreshments on the night. Admission €10 & tickets are available from all committee members & on the door on the night. All are welcome to the fundraising event to help with our new club rooms & team facilities. It’s also a good excuse for a great night out.


The numbers of this week’s lotto were 01/24/26/28. No jackpot winner. Next week’s jackpot stands at €15,200. Tickets can be bought from any promoters.


The outdoor gym in the local amenity park can be used by all ages. We would encourage all local clubs and groups to use this facility.


Open handicap tournament is open to all the Laois snooker members. All are welcome. The winner the Tommy Watkins Perpetual cup plus a cash prize. The runner up will receive silver tray plus a cash prize. Also the highest break prize.The entry fee is non-members €25 and club members €10. All who want to take part in this snooker tournament, please contact Pat Mc Mahon at 057- 8732308 before December 31 2012.
