Laois Rose coordinator Anne Marie Bowe was elated after a hectic weekend and a fantastic result for Laois, with Laois Rose Teresa Brennan chosen to go forward to the Rose of Tralee.
“It was a great weekend and we are just thrilled that Teresa will be going to the Dome in August,” said Anne Marie. “She was on stage on Friday night and she got on great with Daithi, two gaelgóirs on the stage. It will be just fantastic to go to Tralee. It is quite a prestigious event, the calibre of the girls was very high. To get through the regionals you could go on to win in Tralee, as Hayley O’Sullivan already has.
“Hopefully the county will support Teresa as they already have with sponsorship. Our sponsors have already been so generous. We were very busy over the weekend. We went to Castle Durrow on Sunday for our lunch, and on Saturday we had the Gordon Bennett car parade. As well as that there was the festival on Main Street in Portlaoise and the Roses were all very well received. It was great to see such a buzz on Main Street. Teresa, as the host Rose, gave her speech at the civic reception on Friday and it was absolutely flawless. It was an impeccable speech,” Anne Marie enthused.
