Mountmellick Camera Club made history by electing its first ever all female executive at their AGM last week. The committee for the coming year are Chairperson Kathleen Culliton, Secretary Velma Mercer and Treasurer Stephanie Lewis with Paul Lalor as PRO. Last year activities included trips, photo shoots, workshops, guest speakers and competitions and their 25th annual exhibition.
The next meeting is on Wednesday January 27 at 8pm in the MDA. New members are welcome to join. Follow them on Facebook at Mountmellick camera club.
Grants for Projects to commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Rising are now available for community groups and organisations .
Projects must be in keeping with the Laois programme available to download at www.laois.ie. Printed copies on request. Closing date for applications is February 1.
HOSPITAL GROUP AGM
St Vincent’s Hospital Support Group is holding its AGM on Wednesday January 27 at 8 pm in the Town Hall. Everyone welcome.
SLIEVE BLOOM ASSOC
The Association’s Christmas dinner was held in the Community Hall, Clonaslee on November 29. A large crowd enjoyed the lovely meal by Marie Egan and her team, who had the hall decorated beautifully. Martin Delaney provided the music and those that adjourned to Shelly’s Pub had a great night of music and song.
The AGM is deferred to January 28, in the ICA Hall Mountmellick at 8pm, following which, the Imbolc Festival arrangements will be finalised and all members are asked to attend. Imbolc is celebrated on the first Sunday in February (7). We wish all our members and friends all the very best for 2016. All events will be posted on our web page, www.slievebloomassociation.com.
An open meeting for friends and supporters of the IFA presidential candidate Henry Burns will be held in Mountmellick Macra Hall on Wednesday January 20 at 8:30 pm. All welcome.
