WEDDING

The wedding took place on Saturday, January 2, 2016 between Carrie Anne Connell, daughter of John and Angela, 15 Kylebeg, Stradbally and Richard Bond, son of Tom and Catherine Bond, Garrymaddock, Stradbally. The bride was accompanied by Nicola Connell and Yvonne Thompson as her bridesmaids and the flowergirl was Jessica Doyle while the bestman was David Bond and the groomsman was Trevor Bond and the pageboy was Jack Davis. The reception for 200 guests was held in the Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore and the happy couple went on their honeymoon to Sri Lanka.

SENIOR CITIZENS

The annual Christmas dinner for senior citizens will take place in the Napper Tandy’s Function Room, Stradbally on Sunday, January 24 at 1pm. All senior citizens from Stradbally, Timahoe, Vicarstown and surrounding areas are welcome to dinner and family members can join them afterwards at party. LATE JOHN MILLER

The death occurred on Wednesday, January 13 of John Miller, Boveen House, Sharavogue, Birr, Offaly and Cloneska Aglish, and formerly of Rathcrea Vicarstown, Co. Laois, peacefully in the loving care of Cloverlodge Nursing Home Shinrone. Deeply regretted by his brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. His remains were reposing in Treacys Funeral Home, Shinrone until removal on Saturday to St Colmans Church, Kilcolman for concelebrated funeral mass followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

AGM

The AGM of the Woodview Residents Association will be held in St Mary's Hall on Wednesday, February 10 commencing at 8pm. At least one member from each house is expected to attend.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

The first annual general meeting of the Stradbally Active Retirement Group will be held on Wednesday, January 20 in St Mary's Hall commencing at 10.30am. All senior citizens over the age of 50 are eligible to join. Membership can be paid at meeting. Refreshments served.

Heywood Community School, Ballinakill annual enrolment night for prospective 1st year students and their parents/guardians takes place on this Thursday, January 21 at 7pm in the school sports hall.

STRADBALLY GAA

Tickets are now on sale for the Laois GAA all county members draw with over €100,000 prize fund. Four draws commencing on March 4. Tickets can be obtained from any member of Stradbally GAA committee.

ART COMPETITION

The search to find the young artists in this year's Texaco Children's Art Competition has begun. Last year three students from Laois won prizes in the event which is now in its 62nd year. Closing date for entries is Monday, February 29. Judging to take place in March. www.texacochildrensart.com.
