THE LATE JIM ROCK
The death occurred of Jim Rock, Church Avenue, Stradbally on Friday, March 2 peacefully surrounded by his family at The Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Beloved husband of Esther. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, daughters, sons, sister, his adored grandchildren, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and his many friends.
His remains were reposing at The Presentation Chapel, Stradbally until removal to the Sacred Heart Church for requiem mass on Monday 28 and interment took place afterwards in Oakvale Cemetery.
Thanks to the teachers of the local primary schools for facilitating this year’s art competition. The standard as usual was very high. Entries have gone forward for judging.
April 29 is the date for the county talent finals in Mountmellick Arts Centre.

County final due to take place in O Dempsey's GAA club on April 14. There are two teams going forward. Team A: David Fennelly, Evin Bergin, Calam Kelly, Emma Kelly, Ava Carroll and Rachel Kelly. Team B: Sean McDonald, Eoin Corcaran, Lilia O'Laughlin, Kevin Sheehy and Grace Scully. Thanks again to St Colman’s for co-operating with the table quiz.
Two teams are going forward to chess county finals, date has yet to be confirmed. Thanks to Patrick O'Loughlin and Julie Shead for organizing and coaching teams.
We may also be entering teams in tag rugby, Gaelic football and soccer depending on level of interest. If any parent has an interest in becoming involved, coaching a team or helping out in any way your help would be much appreciated.

The AGM of the Stradbally Neighbourhood Watch will be held on Tuesday, April 5 commencing at 8pm in St. Mary's Hall.
NORMAN CONWAY rip
The death occurred on March 23 of Norman Conway, Arden Heights,Tullamore and formerly of Main Street, Stradbally, Co. Laois at the Regional Hospital, Tullamore. Deeply regretted by his wife Maureen, family Fiona, Edwin, Eric, Iain and Norma, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, sister, brothers, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
His remains were reposing at his home on Good Friday until Removal on Holy Saturday morning to the Church of the Assumption, Tullamore for funeral, burial afterwards in Clonminch Cemetery.
Next whist drive will be held on Friday, April 15 at 8.30pm.
ANGELA SIMPSON rip
The death occurred on Saturday, March 26 of Angela Simpson (nee Shaughnessy), Main Street, Stradbally. She passed away peacefully at her daughter-in-law Ann's residence, Main Street, Stradbally, in her 92nd year. Surrounded by the loving and tender care of her family: daughter-in-law Ann, grandson Cathal, granddaughters Mary Rose and Helen. Predeceased by her husband George and son david. Sadly missed by her family, neighbours and friends.
Her remains were reposing at her daughter-in-law's residence, Main Street, Stradbally until removal on Monday to the Sacred Heart Church Stradbally for 2.30pm requiem mass. Interment took place afterwards to Oakvale Cemetery.
Golf lessons starting on this Thursday, April 7 for 5 weeks.
The meeting of the Stradbally Flower & Garden Club will be on Wednesday, April 6 in St Joseph's Hall at 8pm.
