A Laois teenager has come the top two in Ireland in the final for the National Junior Baking Competition.
Isobel Donnery aged 15 from Camross Loft Foróige Club, made it to the final having beat off stiff competition in a local bake-off, county final in Galway, regional final in Sligo and semi-final at the Ploughing Championships.
The competition theme for 2016 is ‘Muffins of the Moment’ and Isobel baked fabulous Lemon Drizzle Muffins.
Isobel came second in the final. The other competitors were Jessica Whyte, Eabha Campbell & Joanne Craddock
Rachael Murphy, Director of Support Services with Foróige said “young bakers have been delighting us all year with their fantastic creations in competitions throughout Ireland. It has been fantastic teaming up with Aldi and watching the young bakers gain confidence and grow in expertise throughout the competition. Foróige is all about the empowerment of young people, and the Aldi National Junior Baking Competition has fostered amazing enthusiasm and creativity in these young people which it has been wonderful to be part of.”
