Bake-off for Portlaoise TYs

Portlaoise College's Transition Year students got to make some real dough recently when they visited a bread bakery in Tullamore.

On October 7 the TYs visited O’Donohues Bakery in Tullamore, where they were given a tour of the bakery to see how commercial bread is baked.

The students got some baking lessons on each step of the process in the busy bakery, from raw material sourcing, to shaping the dough and baking it, and finally delivering the product to the end consumer.

The students also received Allergen and HACCP Training on the day.
