Mountrath ladies football club would like to thank all those who helped and supported our recent fundraising disco which was held on April 1 in Camross Hall. It was a great success and we hope to hold more in the future. Training for U12 and U14 girls resumes on Friday April 20 at the new start time of 4pm at Mountrath GAA grounds.

FOROIGE

Foroige annual sports day taking place on Saturday April 21 in Clonaslee from 11am - 4pm. All Laois Foroige clubs welcome. Many sports, games, tablequiz and workshops taking place all day. GARDENING CLUB

After our last meeting we have all become expert perennial dividers thanks to Mary Kennan of Gash Gardens. It was a very interesting and informative evening. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday May 8 at 8pm in St Fintan’s Hall. All are welcome. Phone Darina on 086 3618854 if you have any questions.

ST FINTAN’S GAA

The numbers drawn for the April 11 were 06,10,24,25. There was no jackpot winner. Next week’s jackpot for April 16 is €8,200. Tickets can be got from any promoter.

FR O CONNOR RESIDENTS

A meeting of the residents of Fr O Connor Crescent will take place on Thursday April 26 at 7.30pm. It is important that a representative from every household attend this meeting.

ST FINTAN’S GAA

Would like to congratulate Mr Liam O’ Neill of Trumera on his appointment as president of the GAA. New leadership brings new ideas and as an amateur organisation we look forward with enthusiasm to bigger and better things for our games. Congratulations and well wishes are extended from us all here at the club. A proud and momentous occasion to see a Laois man take the Helm.

80S DISCO

An 80s disco will be held on Saturday April 21 in The Manor Hotel, Abbeyleix. All proceeds go to Mountrath Christmas Lights and Mountrath GAA Club. Admission €5. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Tickets for sale from both committees.

THE MOLLY MAGUIRES

OLD TIME DANCING

Every Sunday night in Portlaoise GAA Centre from 9.30pm to 11.30pm for only €7. Music will be supplied by Declan Aungier this coming Sunday night, April 22.

The numbers drawn for the April 10 draw were 02.015,20,25. The jackpot was not won. Next’s week’s jackpot for the April 17 draw will be for €19,600. Tickets are available from any promoter.

PARISH LOTTO RESULTS

The numbers drawn for this week’s lotto were 02,03,15,16. There was no jackpot winner. There were 7 match 3s who won €143.

LAOIS HEART FOUNDATION

The Mountrath Heart Foundation group will hold their monthly meeting on April 18 in St Fintan’s Hall Mountrath at 8pm. All are welcome.

OUTDOOR GYM

The outdoor gym in the local amenity park can be used by all ages. We would encourage all local clubs and groups to use this facility.

MOUNTRATH LIBRARY

Currently on display at Mountrath library are two great examples of what clever children we have in the area. Why not drop in and browse the Bishop Daniel Delaney project created by the students of Paddock National School. Alternatively you could spend some time perusing the essays which won our Dead Famous History competition.

If history isn’t what interests you then why not join our knitting group on Friday mornings 10.30-12.30.

TIDY TOWNS

Mountrath Tidy Towns committee are holding a meeting at St Fintan’s Hall tomorrow evening, Thursday April 19, from 8.15pm. The committee is aware of all the good work being done by a number of committed volunteers who aren’t necessarily interested in coming to meetings, however they would like to meet you tomorrow evening for about an hour to discuss tidying up the town for the coming year. All people with an interest in the town are invited to attend.
