UP to 250 volunteers are needed in Laois for the Special Olympics Ireland collection day which takes place throughout the country on Friday, April 27.

Volunteers will be needed throughout Laois to look after the collection points in Portlaoise, Abbeyleix, Mountrath and Portarlington.

Annette Codd who is regional director of Special Olympics in Leinster said

“This is our largest annual fundraising event and as such is of huge importance to us. We need volunteers to help us collect on the day to ensure we are successful. Even a few hours will make a huge difference to us. Every donation we receive on April 27 will help us to further realise our promise of changing the lives of people with Intellectual Disabilities in every county in Leinster,” she said.
