ONCE again in the school, Portlaoise College welcomed the ‘French Theatre For School’ Company for their annual performance. They showcased two plays this year.
The junior cycle students enjoyed ‘Le Porte-Bonheur’. Eight Portlaoise College students took part in the play which made it even more enjoyable for the audience. Similarly, the Senior Cycle students acted in and watched ‘Le Paysan Médecin’ which was a wonderful success.
One third year student, Shannon Carroll-Talbot, said that “it made French very exciting and I feel more confident because I was able to act in French in front of my class”. All involved had a great real life experience of the French language through drama which was well adapted for the Junior Cert and the Leaving Cert exams. The school is already looking forward to the performances coming next year.
Elsewhere in the French department of the school, interviews are underway for scholarships to attend Euro-language College in Galway this summer. Competition is apparent among students and results of these interviews will be announced soon.
