Parkinson’s Disease info day
Saturday September 8, in the Castle Arms Hotel. Will include a series of talks by a nurse specialist, a speech therapist, a pharmacist, an occupational therapist, a yoga teacher and a woman who has had Parkinson’s for sixteen years. There will be opportunities for people in attendance to ask questions of these health care professionals. We will start at 10.30am and finish at 3.30pm.

Woodenbridge Paddlers canoe practice continues weekly and will continue until Sunday September 16, when we will hold our annual sponsored duathlon in aid of the Make believers. This event will also be held in association with Kilkenny River Festivals. The event will get underway from the Woodenbridge at 11.30am.

Monday September 10 is designated World Suicide Prevention Day. Within the four counties of the HSE Midlands, a number of events will be held to highlight the importance of suicide prevention. These events include an ecumenical service of remembrance and hope in Christ the King Cathedral Mullingar, Westmeath and Church of the Assumption, Tullamore, Offaly on Monday September 10, at 7.30pm.
Everyone is welcome to attend the service and a cup of tea/coffee will be available afterwards providing a time for people to chat and support one another.
Abbeyleix Backstage Academy of Performing Arts is holding an open day for new students aged 7 – 18 on Wednesday September 12 from 6.30 – 8.30pm at the Youth Cafe, Fr Breen Park, Abbeyleix. This is its second year in Abbeyleix and further information is available from Backstage on 091 590706.

Cullohill/Durrow flower and garden club meet on Monday September 10 at 8pm in Cullohill Community Hall. Helen Lucas well known AOIFA flower arranger demonstrator will be with us. New members and visitors are always welcome.
The parish lotto with a jackpot of €2,350 was not won, small winners were €30 Eddie Hutchinson, €25 Helen Kelly and €20 Darragh Conory. The lotto jackpot of September 10 could be €2,650 and it will be held in O’Connell’s, Cullohill. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.
