There will be an information evening on Tuesday November 20 at 7.30pm in Mountrath Community School. In the wake of very tragic recent events that concern all teenagers, the Parents Association together with Martin Gleeson Principal and Siobhán McCarthy have invited Mr Tony Ryan, Juvenile Liaison Officer for an information evening.
Topics that will be covered are: Drug awareness and Substance Abuse (speaker Tony Ryan), Cyber Bullying (speaker Siobhan McCarthy), Study Skills and Parents night (speaker Martin Gleeson). It is hoped the talk will answer many parents concerns and raise much needed awareness on these important issues. Letter will be issued to all students tomorrow Wednesday by hand. Please ensure to check with your child for more details.
The event coincides with the Parents association AGM.

Mountrath Conference of St Vincent de Paul are holding their annual Church Gate collection at all Masses over the weekend of December 8 and 9. Your continued support would be greatly appreciated.

The Mountrath & District Business Association are compiling a list of local accommodation available in the area to cater for upcoming events to be organised in 2013. PATRICIAN BROTHERS APPEAL
Brother Thomas Rice is returning to New Guinea and I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to Father Hennessy PP for his kind invitation in allowing me him speak to the Mountrath Community about the Patrician Brothers’ Initiative in Papua New Guinea on Mission Sunday. As a result of this appeal the generosity of the parish community and wider community certainly needs to be congratulated. Br Rice wishes to extend his heartfelt thanks for the generosity shown which will ensure that many young people will benefit for years to come. The sum of €13,650. was collected at time of this printing. Br Rice enjoyed his stay immensely, catching up with long lost friends and family. He asks the community to keep him in your prayers and the work of the Patrician Brothers’ in mission lands. May God bless you and your families abundantly.
PRE CHRISTMAS MARKET
Pre Christmas market will be held in the Parochial hall Mountrath on December 1 from 10.30am to 12 30pm. There will be the usual stall Flowers and holly wreaths, cakes stall, bottle stall, sweet stall, and many more. Watch this space for more details.
FLOWER & GARDEN CLUB
The next meeting will be held tonight, Tuesday, November 13 in St Fintan’s Hall at 8 pm. Guest on the night will be Teresa Fingleton who will give a floral arranging demonstration. All are welcome.

HOME MADE JAM
The sale of homemade jam continues in Cost cutters and in Phelan’s shop in Castletown. The proceeds of this goes to the Laois Hospice Portlaoise.
Various members and volunteers of Mountrath Tidy Towns committee, which is a sub-committee of Mountrath Development Association, will be meeting every Thursday evening at the Car Park on Main Street at 7pm - weather permitting, for a quick tidy up of the town. This usually involves picking up litter and keeping an eye on areas which might need a more thorough cleanup by our local Fás scheme participants. All are welcome to come along for the odd half hour or so from 7pm to 8pm.
The outdoor gym in the local amenity park can be used by all ages. We would encourage all local clubs and groups to use this facility.
