Hard luck to our Senior Footballers in their opening round game of the championship. The team minus many big names battled hard and done the jersey proud, however the players losing a 7 point lead was to have a huge impact on the result. The team have trained hard and go into the game against Crettyard this Friday determined to get a result. The club would like to thank the supporters who travelled to O Moore park to support the team. We would also like to thank Joe Mallon Motors for their continued support to the club.
Congratulations to all who received their leaving certificate last week, hopefully all the hard work paid off.
Please continue to keep the Village Clean and Tidy.
It is proposed to reopen the Library on a part time basis as a sort of visitors centre for the Round Tower and the Village, all information or materials suitable for a Museum are very much welcome. Please contact 087 6813116 with information.
Coillte have lodged a planning application for a very large industrial wind development on Cullenagh mountain. The plan is to build 18 enormous turbines (131m tall) across Cullenagh and into Clonticoe. This development would be one of the largest infrastructural projects in Laois in recent years. Another private company have also applied to build 8 even bigger turbines (150 metres) close to Clonticoe in the Spink area. Local groups are having a public meeting in Ballyroan Community Hall on Tuesday August 27 at 8pm. The meeting will inform people about the proposals. All are encouraged to attend.
