Maureen Culleton is delighted to have been invited to introduce set dancing to Parkinson’s sufferers and their families at a National Social Weekend in the Hudson Bay Hotel Athlone on Saturday September 7. The therapeutic benefits of set dancing on Parkinson’s Sufferers were addressed at a recent International Conference held in Feakle, Co Clare. Speakers included Professor Volpe, director of Neurological Rehabilitation at Arcangelo Hospital in Venice and Professor Timothy Lynch, Consultant Neurologist and Clinical Director of Dublin Neurological Institute at the Mater University Hospital,Dublin. Patients demonstrated their skills which they had acquired over a three year period and proved that their equilibrium,movement,mood and confidence had greatly improved. On Wednesday August 21 as part of Heritage week, a céilí and oldtime dance will take place in Community Centre Ballyfin at 8.30pm. Music by Danny Webster.Something for everyone; waltz, quickstep, céilí dances and sets. Maureen Culleton will be on hand to help. Light refreshments will be served. Families very welcome. Adm €10. All are welcome to come and celebrate our rich heritage of music and dance.

Senior Citizens thanks

Rosenallis Senior Citizens Committee would like to thank everyone who gave so generously to their church Gate Collection. Your support was greatly appreciated. The amount raised was €541.75.


Congratulations to Ms Gemma Goulding who represented Laois and won the International Miss Macra 2013 competition during the bank holiday weekend in Tipperary. Congratulations Gemma!

Concern collection

The annual church gate collection in aid of Concern will be taken up before all masses on the weekend of August 31, September 1. Please support as generously as possible.

Clonaghadoo hall committee are having their annual Kilcavan 5K run/walk on Friday September 6 at 7pm. Registration at Clonaghadoo Church from 6pm. Adults €10, juveniles €5.
