Poet David Delaney and artist Jayne Louise Kelly have once again collaborated to mount one of their inspirational displays of work at this year’s Electric Picnic festival in Stradbally.

The two took the picnic festival Mind Field by storm last year with their thought provoking and critically acclaimed interactive installation display Life:Map.

The artists say their new concept In:Mortality was inspired by a poetic response by one Electric Picnic festivalgoer last year when he wrote and contributed a piece to David’s and Jayne Louise’s Life:Map interactive installation.

As with their previous installation their latest unique exhibition In:Mortality is the Athy born poet’s concept which the Portlaoise artist Jayne Louise bringing it to the point where the viewer is left contemplating about their own fragile mortality.

In:Mortality explores the fragility of the human mind and human nature.

It also explores each and everyone’s relevant strengths, weaknesses and powers to overcome.

The central themes behind the installation appear on one level to be simple – life and death - but as one begins to peel away and explore the different layers, these themes begin to crossover and become more complex.

As with all of David’s and Jayne Louise’s collaborations, the invitation is there to touch, feel and explore and respond to what is read and seen.

There are less than two weeks to go until Electric Picnic opens its doors to the public and preparations are well underway in Stradbally at the moment.
