A note of sympathy was passed with Tim Keenan on the death of his brother in law Tony Delaney.
LATE TONY DELANEY
The funeral of Tony Delaney formerly of Killeen, Camross took place at St Fergal’s Church on Saturday last at requrim mass. The remains was received by the Very Rev. Canon Lar Dunphy retired PP of Urlingford and former CC in Camross for 13 years. He celebrated requrim mass assisted by Very Rev. Fr John Lalor, also present was Very Rev. Fr Pat Hennessey PP Mountmellick, a family friend. The lessons were taken care of by his family. He was laid to rest in the adjoining churchyard where his beloved parents Michael and Mary were also buried. Tony’s passing at a young age was very much regretted, he is mourned by his wife, two sons and two daughters, his brother Bill, his sister Moira Clonaslee, Josie Borris in Ossory, Teresa Knock and Connie Timahoe, extended family and friends
In the good weather, Camross CCE Branch were able to have there seisuin night outside the pub it was just like the old like days with the dancing at the crossroads we had French and Italian visitors on the night. Seisuin is still running on the August 23 in the Camross Inn. It would be great to see all our members come along.
The following represented the branch at the All Ireland in Derry: Conall Nevin u-12 Button Accordion and Drums; Eoin Murphy, Drums u-12. It is great to have 2 members from the one branch qualifiying in the same competition. Cliona Dowling McDonald u-12 Flute, Whistle Airs,Irish and English ladies singing well done Cliona on doing so well in all these competitions. Maeve Scott u-12 Whistle and Concertina. Maeve will be joined by her brother David and sister Ellen to compete in the u-12 trio. Ciara Mackessy Whistle 12-15, Ciara Clooney Whistle 15-18, Kevin Murphy Bodhran 12-15, Kevin will be joined by his sister Roisin to compete tin the 12-15 Duet competition. Molly Donnery Ladies English singing 12-15, Aaron Mackessy 15-18 Mandolin. St Fergal’s Ceili Band will be competing in the u-12 Ceili Band Competition. The branch will also be well represented in the Set Dancing with St. Fergal’s u-12 Mixed Set, St Stephen’s 12-15 Mixed and Ladies Set, and Camross 15-18 group.
On a sadder note we would like to express our sympathies to the Maher Family Closh on the sudden passing of our loyal and faithful member Tom. We will miss him on our Comhaltas trips as we all have fond memories of him a real gentleman and always had a smile for everyone.May he rest in peace.
