BALLYQUAID MASS PIT
Due to torrential rain on Thursday evening August 15, the annual Mass at the Mass Pit in Ballyquaid was celebrated in the Church of the Assumption, Killasmeestia. The Mass was Concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Robert Fletcher, Rev. Fr. Jackie Robinson and Rev. Fr. Seamus McEvoy. In his homily Fr. Fletcher spoke of our forefathers who risked their lives and made many sacrifices to attend Mass and hear the word of God during Penal times.
Following from the success of the recent Public meeting organised by the local Community Alert, committee members have been calling to houses in the area to answer any questions anyone might have. Homeowners also have the opportunity to sign up for the Community Text Alert System. This is a service run by the community for the community where subscribers will be notified by text of suspicious activity in the area.
The service has to be set up and maintained; therefore the cost will be €20 per mobile number signed up. This is a small price to pay for this service which has proved to lower the crime rate in other areas where it is in operation.
