The annual Cemetery Mass for Durrow will be held on Tuesday night August 5 at 7.30pm in the Church of the Holy Trinity. Everyone who has relatives in the graveyard is asked to make sure their plot is clean. Many thanks to those who look after the graveyard so well, it is a credit.
Huge attendances were present all week so far at the Durrow All-Ireland Scarecrow Festival where sunshine, blue sky and heat greeted everyone. There were a big number of scarecrows entered in the competition and Durrow looked lovely with many different personalities present as a scarecrow. It is very disappointing the vandals and thugs destroyed some of scarecrows, it takes time and loads of effort to make one of them and it is terrible to see them destroyed. We look forward to a great week with loads of people getting great enjoyment from the many different scarecrows.

Durrow Fadó Writers Group and White Lady Drama Group
Congratulations to Durrow Development Forum on another great Scarecrow Festival. The voluntary effort from all involved deserves the highest gratitude from everyone in the community. Durrow Fadó Writers Group and the local White Lady Drama Group have joined forces to bring you a really unique play, The Ferryman’s Daughter. This is an outdoor play depicting an episode in the rich history and heritage of 18th century Durrow. The first act of the play will commence on the banks of the river Erkina, then move to the Square and conclude in the grounds of Castle Durrow. The play will be performed on August 26 and 27 from 7.45pm. Tickets will be in limited supply. Details are available on the event flyer in local business premises or available from any member of the White Lady Drama Group or Durrow Fadó Writers Group. Do you have any 18th century costumes stashed away in your attic and if so, would you loan them to the White Lady Drama Group for their forthcoming production. We would be very appreciative of any help. Contact Anne Conroy 086 6079069.
