STRADBALLY FLOWER AND GARDEN CLUB UPDATE

Stradbally Flower and Garden Club AGM was held on Wednesday, October 1 in St Joseph’s Hall. Committee for coming year - chairperson Dorrie Moran, sec/PRO Vera Donohue, treasurer Frances Scully, asst chairperson Brenda Corcoran, asst sec/PRO Mary Cahill, asst treasurer Mary Whelan. Committee Eileen Kennedy, Toni Deegan, Phyllis Bennett, Marg. Delaney (S) Marg. Deaney (A) Deirdre Woulfe, Pauline Harrison, Ann Donohue and Molly Bambrick. The annual Christmas demonstration is on December 10 in St Joseph’s Hall. The Christmas party night is booked for December 13 in the Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise. Please give your name to the committee as soon as possible.

THE LATE FINTAN MOORE

The death occurred on Monday, October 6 of Fintan Moore, White Fields, Timogue, Stradbally, Co. Laois and formerly of Gurteen, Mountrath peacefully in the loving care of the staff of St Vincent’s Hospital, Mountmellick. Beloved husband of Mary and dear father of Geraldine and brother of Rev. Fr Michael, St Joseph’s, Rockwell College. Deeply regretted by his loving wife, daughter, son-in-law Sean, brother, sister-in-law May, nieces, nephews, neighbours, relatives and many friends. His remains were reposing in his home until removal on Wednesday to St Fergal’s Church, Camross and following 2pm requiem mass his remains were interred in St Fergal’s cemetery.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH MEETING

A meeting of the Stradbally Neighbourhood Watch will be held on Monday, October 20 in St Mary’s Hall at 7.30pm.

THE LATE ANTHONY LALOR

The death occurred on Monday, October 6 of Anthony (Tony) Lalor, Cremorgan, Timahoe, peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. He is deeply regretted by his sister Therese, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

His remains were reposing at his residence until removal on Tuesday to Saint Michael’s Church, Timahoe and following requiem mass on Wednesday Interment took place afterwards to Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Timahoe.

THE LATE MARY (BABS) QUINN (NEE WHELEHAN)

The death occurred on Friday, October 3 of Mary (Babs) Quinn, nee Whelehan, Bridge House, Stradbally and formerly from Closeland, Ballybrittas. Peacefully in Droimnin Nursing Home Stradbally. Predeceased by her beloved only daughter Mary and also by her sister Catherine (Kitty) Feeney. Survived by her loving son Paddy, daughter-in-law Regina, grandchildren Maria, Hannah, Vincent and Claire, her brother Tom Whelehan and sister-in-law Nancy, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends. Her remains were reposing at her residence until removal to The Church of the Sacred Heart, Stradbally on Wednesday followed by interment in Oakvale Cemetery.

STRADBALLY JUVENILE ANGLING CLUB

The club are holding a fundraising draw on Saturday, October 25 in Dunnes. There is €1,000 in prizemoney with the first prize being €400. Tickets now on sale at €2 each.

MAURA LOWRY (NEE KAYE)

The death occurred on Wednesday, October 8 of Maura Lowry (nee Kaye), Esker, Timahoe In the loving care of her family, loving wife of the late John. Predeceased by her son John, deeply regretted by Noreen (Corbett), Pat, Catherine (O’Connor), Denis, Mary (Gorman), her sister Sr Lazerian CSB (Norah) Australia, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, relatives and friends. Her remains were reposing at her residence until removal on Friday evening to St Michael’s Church, Timahoe and following requiem mass on Saturday burial took place afterwards in St Michael’s Cemetery, Timahoe.

TABLE QUIZ

A table quiz will be held in St Patrick’s Hall, Stradbally on Saturday, October 18 commencing at 8.30pm. Adults €10, students €5. Single contestants welcome.
