Coursing Club

The A.G.M. of the local Coursing club took place recently. Secretary Edmund Sheeran in his report highlighted the very successful 2 day Coursing meeting which took place last year. Chairman Joe Hanrahan thanked every member for another busy and successful year; he also thanked all land owners. Plans were made for this year’s coursing fixture which takes place on Thursday, November 20 and Friday, November 21. Further details will be announced in the coming weeks.

The following officers for the coming season were elected,

President - Willam Kirwan, Vice Presidents - Dan Bergin, Kieran Bergin, Jimmy Condron, Liam Dollard, Johnny Nolan and Harry Whelan. Chairman - Joe Hanrahan, Vice Chairmen - Johnny Nolan and Sean Ryan.Hon. Secretaries - Liam Drennan and Edmund Sheeran. Treasurers - Edmund Sheeran and Peter Middleton. P.R.O. - Canice Sheeran.Committee - All Members of the Club. A minute’s silence was observed for all connected with the club who suffered bereavements during the year.

Hare catching has commenced and will continue each Sunday, meeting at Kirwan’s, Midland Service Station at 10.15am. Anyone requiring further details on hare catching please contact Liam on 087-2861955, Edmund on 087-6890937 or Canice on 087-2071267.

PARISH MISSION

A Mission will take place in Borris-in-Ossory parish during the first week of November. The Mission will be conducted by the Redemptorists: Father Denis Luddy C.SsR and Father John Hanna C.SsR.

SYMPATHY

Sympathy is extended to Mrs Carol Sinnott, Ballybrophy on the recent death of her brother, the late Mr Paul Bennett, late of North Square, Inchicore, Dublin.

Sympathy is also extended to Rev. Fr Donal Walsh, former curate in Borris-in-Ossory on the death of his brother, the late Liam (Red Willie) Walsh, Tinnahinch, Graiguenamanagh, Carlow

Social

A Social will take place in Killasmeestia Community Centre on this Friday, October 17. Music by John and Terry. Dancing from 9.30pm to 12.30am and supper will be served.

SOCIAL DANCING

Dancing for Fun with Maureen Culleton takes place each Thursday in St Canice’s Hall, Borris in Ossory from 2pm-4pm. All are welcome.

SET DANCING

BORRIS CHOIR

All members of Borris in Ossory choir are requested to attend a meeting to prepare for Mission on Wednesday October 15 at 7.30 p.m. in Borris-in-Ossory Church.

ADORATION

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament has resumed for the winter months. Adoration takes place each Tuesday in St Canice’s Church, Borris in Ossory from 9.15am to 3pm. Adoration in Killasmeestia Church on Thursdays from 10am to11am and in Knockaroo Church on Tuesdays between 2.30pm and 3.30pm. (NOTE: Change of time)

Anyone is welcome to spend time in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
