The death occurred on Thursday, February 19, of Elizabeth Sarah (Betty) Moynan, Riverside, Stradbally at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Wife of Robert and mother of Gordon, Joyce, Daphne, Valerie and Nigel. Predeceased by her sister Mary. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and Nigel’s fiancée Martha, her grandchildren, her sister Gladys, brothers Bobby and George, sons-in-law, sister -in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relations, neighbours and many friends. Her remains were reposing at her residence on Friday until removal for funeral service on Saturday to St Patrick’s Church of Ireland in Stradbally followed by burial in Killermogh Churchyard, Ballacolla.

ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADES

Three parades will take place in the parish, on Tuesday, March 17. All parishioners invited to parade to their community mass, Vicarstown 9.30am, Timahoe 10.30am and Stradbally 11.30am. The theme of this years parade is ‘Green White and Gold’.

ICA MEETING

A meeting of the Stradbally ICA Guild will be held on tonight, Tuesday, March 3 in the ICA house, The Green at 8pm.

RATHENISKA TIDY TOWNS MEETING

A meeting of the Ratheniska Tidy Towns will be held on tonight, Tuesday, March 3 at 8pm in St Aengus Hall, Ratheniska.

DUNAMAISE BEEKEEPERS

We are having a meeting which is open to everyone to talk about flowers for bees in the TEAGASC offices Portlaoise on tonight,Tuesday, March 3 at 8pm. Our speaker on the night is Mary Keenan from Gash Gardens Castletown.

WHIST DRIVE

Winners of the whist drive held in St Patrick’s Hall on Friday, February 20: top score Sylvia Wilkinson, 1st lady Kay Chase, 2nd lady Christina Browne and Mary Gowing, 1st gent Billy Ransome, 2nd gent Peter Stevenson, first half Tom Gowing, 2nd half Teresa Grufferty, lowest score Mick Foy, sitting Lily Pierce and Willie Wallace, raffles Nathan Harrison, Tom Kearns, Billy Ransome, Birdie Langton and Bea Hendy.

ELECTRIC PICNIC AGM

AGM of the residents’ committee will be held in St Mary’s Hall on tonight, Tuesday, March 3 commencing at 8pm.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER

World Day of Prayer will be held on this Friday, March 6 in St Patrick’s Church, Stradbally at 8pm.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH MEETING

A meeting of the Stradbally Neighbourhood Watch will be held on Thursday, March 5 commencing at 7.30pm in St Mary’s Hall.

STRADBALLY FLOWER AND GARDEN CLUB

Stradbally Flower and Garden Club March meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 4 in St Joseph’s Hall, Stradbally at 8pm and guest speaker will be from the Arboretum, Loughlinbridge. After Easter the club are holding flower arranging classes and anyone wishing to attend please give your name to the secretary as soon as possible.

STRADBALLY JUVENILE ANGLING CLUB AGM

Stradbally Juvenile Angling Club will hold a meeting on March 9 to sort out outings for 2015 and insurance.

PARISH MISSION STRADBALLY

‘Come & See Go & Tell’ is the theme for The Parish Mission opening in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Saturday, on Saturday, March 21 at 6.30pm mass in Stradbally to Friday, March 27.

LAOIS HUNTER TRIALS

The Laois Hunt Hunter Trials will be held in Stradbally Hall commencing at 10am on Saturday, April 4.

HOUSEBOUND

The housebound of the parish will be attended to on Friday, March 6.
