LATE NORA BRENNAN

The death occurred on Thursday, May 7 of Nora Brennan, The Green, Stradbally, Co. Laois peacefully after a short illness, bravely borne at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Deeply regretted by her son John Joe, sister Kathleen (New York), grandchildren Deirdre, Niall and Emma, great-grandchildren, extended family, relatives and friends. Her remains were reposing at the Presentation Chapel, Stradbally on Friday with removal to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Stradbally on Saturday following which interment took place in Oakvale Cemetery, Stradbally.

LATE JOHN MCMAHON

The death occurred on Thursday, April 30 of John McMahon, Newtown, Crettyard and late of Garrons, Stradbally, suddenly at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Marie, son’s John and David, daughter Marian, mother Marian, brothers, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law,son-in-law, grandchildren,neices, nephews and a large circle of friends. His remains were reposing at his residence until removal to St Abban’s Church, Doonane on Sunday and burial took place immediately afterwards in adjoining cemetary.

WIND AWARENESS GROUP AGM

Due to the Fit For Life walk in Luggacurren on Wednesday, May 13 , the AGM of the Swan/Wolfhill/Luggacurren Wind Awareness Group has been put back to Wednesday, May 20 at 8pm in Luggacurren Parish Hall.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

First Holy Communion will be held in the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally on Saturday, May 16 at 11.30am massand in Timahoe on May 23 at 11am.

DUNAMAISE BEEKEEPERS

This month’s meeting is on tonight May 12 at 8pm in the Teagasc Training Centre, Portlaoise. Speaking on developing and improving your stock will be Seamus Maher. Everyone is most welcome so hope to see you there.

1916 COMMEMORATION

A public workshop will be held to develop ideas for the commemoration of the 1916 Rising in Laois from 8-10pm on Wednesday, May 13 in the Stradbally Arthouse.

IRISH CANCER SOCIETY COLLECTION

The Irish Cancer Society church gate collection will be taken up on the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, May 23 and 24 at all masses. Your continued support would be much appreciated.
