A GALA fashion show was held on Friday March 9 in aid of St Peter’s Church in Portlaoise. The show which took place in the parochial hall on Station Road in Portlaoise was a huge success with a hall full of enthusiastic supporters who showed their appreciation for the effort which had gone into organising the event.
Rector Reverend Stanley Monkhouse welcomed everyone and thanked everybody involved in the presentation. Fifteen young people from primary school modelled children’s fashions from Shaws, which ranged from fun wear to party gear. They were followed by twelve ladies who modelled for Number One Boutique and Shaws. They displayed repeated changes of delightful fashions, from day wear through to party wear including mother of the bride outfits.
Next in line were the gents, six of whom modelled clothes from Alan Flynns Menswear, including model Mark who spectators said characterised Sherlock Holmes. Others showed very smart town and country wear, followed by sports, leisure and party gear for all age groups.
A number of local shops kindly supplied the fashions for the event, as well as generously giving their time preparing and organising at the show. On arrival to the show people were given a reception of food and wine, sponsored by Number One Boutique and Reliable House Furnishers.
Organisers thanked everyone who agreed to model, Fergal for taking charge of lighting and music, compere Nicola Rowan, and expressed their sincere thanks to Florrie Rowan for planning the evening and making it all possible. For those who missed out on the fashion, keep a look out for other events happening soon.
