The Slieve Bloom Association will hold its next meeting in the community centre, Kinnity on Thursday May 24 at 8.30pm. We welcome everyone interested in promoting the Slieve Blooms, while preserving its unique amenities.

BOOK SALE

In aid of the parent/toddler group, there is a book sale on Sunday May 27 after 10am mass in the parish hall. If you have books in good condition to donate for children or adults, fiction or non-fiction please drop them into the parish hall on Friday May 25 or Saturday May 26 from 2 – 4pm or you may contact Maureen on 087 6919056. Your support would be appreciated.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Community Games athletics area final will be held in Rosenallis soccer pitch on Saturday May 26 at 2pm.

TIDY TOWNS

Work evenings on Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm starting from the heritage centre. Judging starts on June 1 for national competition.

CLONASLEE BASKETBALL CLUB

Awards night will be next week, date and time to be announced. All Under 11 to Under 18 players please attend. Wear your Clonaslee basketball top if possible. Registration will be on the same night as the awards. Registration fees for 2012/2012 are as follows: U10/U8 €20, U12 and over €40. Training sessions are €3 per session for all teams next season.

SOCIAL SERVICES

Bingo in the community centre every Thursday evening from 6.30 – 9pm. Light refreshments served. All are welcome

CLONASLEE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION

At the last monthly meeting the following items were discussed. Update on the storage space outside, library, official opening of stonework done on the Clodiagh River bridge, gym and fitness area in the centre, facelift for the upstairs rooms, new front door to centre, clean up week went well, vandalism still on-going, Dawn Chorus walk taking place at the weekend, congratulations to Nancy Costello on her inclusion to the Laois Heritage Garden Trail, best of luck to the Laois Fleadh, discussion on putting road markings around and in front of the community centre, levelling the soccer pitch, thanks to Laois Partnership for the financial help in the community sound system, lights and other items purchased, plaque of past and present chairpersons of the CCDA.
