PARISH GIFT TO THE POOR CLARES

To commemorate the 800 anniversary of the founding of The Poor Clares, the parish has commissioned a special granite seat. This seat is on display at the back of St Clare’s Church and will be presented to the Poor Clares on August 11, after mass at 10am. The seat will then be placed in the Poor Clare garden.

PUBLIC MEETING

There will be a public meeting to discuss the future of Killeshin Hall and Old School on Wednesday August 22 at 8pm in Killeshin Hall.

GRAIGUECULLEN MONSTER BINGO

This Tuesday August 7 at 8.30pm in Graiguecullen Hall.

FIACC’S FOLK MAGAZINE 2012/2013

TIRIDUUM FOR THE FEAST OF ST CLARE

The Triduum for the Feast of St Clare will be held in St Clare’s Church as follows: Wednesday and Thursday, August 8 and 9, mass with guest speaker at 7.30pm, Saturday August 11, Feast of St Clare, mass at 10 am. Blessing after all masses with First Class Relic of St Clare.

KILLESHIN FC LOTTO

There was no winner of the recent lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 03, 04, 19 and 21. The four winners of the lucky dips were Siobhan Galligan, Josey Toomey, Eddie Gorman and Ger Westgate each will receive €25 and the sellers prize of €25 was won by Mick Brennan. The jackpot for the next lotto stands at €5400 and tickets can be purchased for €2 from any club member or from the local shop and public houses.

SWIMMING POOL

Final swim camp will be from Monday August 13 to Friday August 17, 6pm to 6.45pm each evening. Cost is €35 per child. Contact 059 9140330.

ST PATS BOYS AFC

St Pat Boys junior (adults – men) and youth teams have commenced training for the forthcoming season. Training sessions take place at the Meadows, Graiguecullen on Sundays at 11am and on Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm. MARIAN MOVEMENT OF PRAYER

Marian Movement of Prayer for Priests will be held in St Fiacc’s House on this Tuesday, August 7 at 7.30pm. Rosary, mass and benediction.

ST FIACC’S HOUSE

St Fiacc’s House proudly announce the opening of their new café. The café will open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Why not meet your friends for lunch and a chat?

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD

Sunday school finished last Sunday and will resume on Sunday September 9.

4KM FUN RUN

St Fiacc’s House 4km fun run in conjunction with St Abban’s club will take place on Wednesday August 8. Walk, jog or run. Registration of €5 takes place at 6.30pm in St Fiacc’s House. Sponsor cards available. Spot prizes to be won and also refreshments served

DAY OF RETREAT

Evergreens day of retreat in St Fiacc’s House on Thursday August 16 from 10.30am to 3.30pm. The cost, €10 includes lunch. Names to be given to the parish office on or before Friday August 10.

Senior Help Line is a confidential listening service for older people by older people for the price of a local call anywhere in Ireland, LoCall 1850 440 444. Senior Help Line is open from 10am until 10pm, 365 days a year. 

GRAIGUECULLEN GAA

Annual field day takes place on Sunday August 19 from 2pm to 6pm. There will be lots of stalls for all to enjoy. See who gets dunked in our dunk tank. Bouncy castles, barrel train and more.

Numbers drawn were 13, 18, 24 and 28. There was no jackpot winner so the next jackpot will be €10,000, reserve €9,600. There was one Match 3 winner of €200: TLC c/o Joe Brennan (PC). Sellers prize of €20 each went to Johnny Dooley, Eric Ryan and Eugene.

OISÍN HOUSE NEWS

Garda vetted volunteers needed to help with children’s workshops at Oisín Park this summer. Social dancing at Oisín Park takes a break until mid-September.

YOUTH PILGRIMAGE

Youth pilgrimage to Galway is on August 13 and 14. This year there are two buses with 55 young people travelling. The balance of the payment of €50 should be made to the parish office.

CHILDCARE CENTRE

Graiguecullen Parish Childcare Centre is taking enrolments for the free ECCE preschool year for September 2012. There are also reduced rate and sub vented places, (CCS and GETS), in their preschool for the year prior to the ECCE Preschool year. Enrolment forms for Graiguecullen Parish Childcare Centre are now available in the office or can be downloaded from the website.

BRIDGE CLUB

IRISH HISTORY LIVE: TITANIC

Michael Moylan returns with his hugely popular interactive history show for kids. This year, experience a unique historical re-enactment of life on board the Titanic. Find out what it was really like to sail on the doomed ship. Booking is required. This takes place in Ballylinan Library on Friday August 24 at 10.30am.
