CANCER PROJECT IN VIETNAM
Thanks to all in Mountmellick and the surrounding areas who supported the collection for Dr Bolger and his team from Tullamore who will travel to Vietnam in early September. To date we have collected €11,700 for which they are very grateful and look forward to setting up a cancer day ward there. Please return any remaining donation cards to Mary Egan at 087 6725440.
ACTIVE RETIREMENT ASSOCIATION
The activities continue with Boccia in the Macra Hall on Mondays at 7.30pm, aqua aerobics in Portlaoise Leisure Centre on Tuesdays at noon (the free bus to this leaves the MDA at 11.15am) and music and song in St Vincent’s Hospital on Wednesdays from 6.15 to 7.45pm. There will be no meetings during the month of August, but the above activities continue throughout August.
‘White on White’, an exhibition of paintings by Antoinette Breen, will run until the end of the month. All welcome to view during opening hours. CÚL CAMP AT THE ROCK
Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps provide boys and girls with an action packed and fun filled week of activity during the summer holidays which revolves around maximizing enjoyment and sustaining participant involvement in Gaelic Games. The death took place of Tony Culleton of Hill 60 Acragar on Sunday July 29. Remains reposed at his residence until removal to St Joseph’s Church on Tuesday morning. The death took place of Paddy Parkinson of Waterford and formerly of Emmet Street on Monday July 30. THE LATE TONY CULLETON
On July 29, Tony Culleton of 12 Hill Sixty Mountmellick passed away after a brave battle with his sudden illness. Tony displayed a strong skilled work ethos throughout his life and this shone through in his love for mechanics, welding and vintage tractors. Tony will always be remembered for his dedication and devotion to his wife Mona, sons Mark and Sean, daughters Audrey and Isabel, brothers, sisters, extended family and friends.
