To mark their 35 years the local ladies club are organizing a weekend in Clonakilty and touring Cork from Friday August 31 to Sunday September 2. The trip costs €150 per person and includes 2 B/Bs and 2 evening meals plus the bus trips. The full amount should be paid by Friday August 10 to the credit union, 056/4442440. Top score at Newtown whist on Saturday was won by Fr D. Murphy. 1st lady Betty Conway. 2nd lady Mary Warren. 1st gent John Graham and Willie Farrell. Lst half Mary Gowing and Pat Kennedy. 2nd half Elizabeth Coffey. 1st quarter Hannah Moore 2nd quarter Michael Mooney. Raffle winners were Gerry Kealy, Elizabeth Coffey, Kit Farrell, Margaret Brennan and Michael Mooney. Whist continues as usual on Saturday.

SYMPATHY

Sincere sympathy is extended to the Brophy family, Fairymount, Crettyard, on the recent tragic death of Shane. Shane’s remains were removed from the family home to St Abbans Church, Doonane. Burial took place in adjoining cemetery after requiem mass. He is survived by his parents, Carmel and Liam, sisters, Linda, Sarah, Rebecca, brothers, Liam, Adrian, George and Ronan, his grandmother, Margaret Brophy, other relatives and a large circle of friends.
