Heritage House is hosting Eamonn Kelly of the National Museum of Ireland on October 3, when he will be giving a talk about the Cashel Bog body, discovered near Ballyroan. At about 4000 years old, this is the oldest bog body discovered anywhere in the world. Admission to the talk is €5 and tickets are now available in Heritage House, Abbeyleix.
A healthy food for a healthy mind talk and cookery demonstration in Respond Community Centre in Abbeyleix on Wednesday October 2 from 10.30am.
Managing adversity in business and surviving is a talk that will take place in the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel on Thursday October 3 from 8pm. It will be given by Tommy Murphy and Sean Dunne as seen on RTE’s Taking Care of business.

Kidney Assoc Sale
The Laois Branch of the Irish Kidney Association is holding a fundraising sale on October 3, 4 and 5 at Bull Lane Portlaoise (previous Hibernian Insurance Office, yellow building near Xtravision.) Many gardening and cookery books will be on sale together with good quality soft toys and bric-a-brac. Home-baked cakes will be on sale also on Friday October 4. All proceeds go to the Laois branch of the Irish Kidney Association to help local patients who have end stage kidney disease. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
