Portarlington Lions Clu’sannual Christmas Craft/Trade Fair will take place in the Community Centre on Sunday December 15 from 2pm. Lots of family entertainment, unique handmade gifts, and Santa too. Up to 50 stalls, free entry, with proceeds going to local charities.
St Vincent de Paul Appeal
We are looking for any items you may have for our Main Street shop. At this time of year we appeal for toys in good condition that your children may be finished with. These toys will go to needy families or can also be sold in our shop. Also looking for clothing, shoes, furniture etc. Thanks to everyone who continue to support us in any way. A fundraising night takes place in the Heritage Hotel Killenard on next Sunday December 15 @ 8pm. Mulled wine reception at 7pm. The night features the Irish Midland Concert Orchestra & local musicians & singers. All proceeds go to Portarlington Lions Club & St. Vincent de Paul. Tickets on sale for €10. CAROL SERVICE / NATIVITY PLAY
A Carol Service / Nativity Play will take place in St. Michael’s Church, Portarlington on Friday December 20 commencing at 7.30pm. This event will be a wonderful opportunity to take time out from the flurry of Christmas preparations, to reflect on the real message of Christmas. There will be a special Christmas Storytelling Sessions for children in the Library on Saturday December 14 at 10:30am. This 45 minute session is presented by Simone Schummelfeder from Storygate and combines heart-warming tales with information about Christmas traditions from various countries. It is suitable for children of all ages.
Deepest Sympathy to the family of Bernie Maloney (nee Murphy) 37, St Brigid’s Square who passed away on Monday December 2. Bernie was predeceased by her husband Liam 11 months ago. She will be sadly missed by her Sons Peter, Ger & James, daughters Christine, Ellen, Mary & Brigid, Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, her extended family and friends.
