KATHLEEN WESTMAN AN APPRECIATION
ICA Guild members were saddened at the sudden death on Wednesday November 20 of valued friend and member Kathleen Westman. A long time member, Kathleen was always a pleasant and willing participant in ICA events. She was a member of the dancing team which achieved 2nd in the Laois Federation competition some years past. Also a staunch PTAA member, Kathleen attended most events including pilgrimages, Gradam awards and quizzes. Kathleen also regularly attended the Mountmellick Community Care Association’s monthly socials in Wolfe Tone Court.
Guild members were privileged to partake in the guard of honour with their friends from PTAA and Community Care. Federation President Betty Gorman was among the many mourners at Kathleen’s funeral. Kathleen will be most sadly missed by us all, may she rest in peace.
A large crowd attended the switch on of the Christmas tree & lights on Friday November 29. All enjoyed the music from Portlaoise Accordion Band, Mountmellick Pipe Band and St Joseph’s Sunday Choir.
