X BOX Alternative
Calling all readers, between 6 and 12 years old. Are you ready for the summer reading challenge? Because Carlow Library service are ready for you. Get involved and meet great characters like Neisse, the friendly Loch Ness Monster whose big wish is for someone to invent an underwater e-reader. The Mermaid, who loves to read books about human girls.
Leprechaun is always in trouble, he makes shoes for a living, but can’t stop picking up books and reading them. Not only will there be tons of great reading activities taking place in Carlow libraries, but there’s also going to be some fun new stuff online too.
So how does it work, all participants receive a reading card. Each time you read a book you get your card stamped in the library. If you read six books between June 30 and August 30, collecting stickers and other treats and rewards along the way, you have completed your card. Keep completing cards and see how many you can fill over the summer. Children can read whatever they like, fact books, joke books, picture books, just as long as they are borrowed from the library. Call into Carlow Library today, have a peek on www.carlowlibraries.ie or find them on Facebook.

All food donations can still be left in the food barrels at the church doors or in the parish centre. Thanks to Mary Clare Nolan and Lorraine Hayden for the very kind donation of €530.23 being the proceeds from the raffle of a painting during their recent art exhibition. The winner of the painting was Agnes Broderick from Brownshill. A big thank you to everyone who called to the exhibition and supported the raffle.
