This year’s outing will be on July 24 to Lismore, Co Waterford. Bus will leave Clonaslee at 8am. Tea and scones will be available in Treacy’s Hotel in Waterford that morning. We will then visit the Heritage Centre, Lismore Castle gardens and back to Lismore House Hotel for tea. Cost is €10 per person as part of a group rate. We head back to Waterford city in the afternoon where many places of interes are to be seen. Ladies may like to do a spot of shopping. Evening dinner will be in Treacy’s Hotel at 7pm. Cost is €20 per person. If you don’t want to visit the places in Lismore please say so when booking your seat for the bus. A trip to Knock will be on August 14. We are also planning a trip to the seaside and a date will be published later.
Circuit training is now on Wednesday from 7-8 pm and Saturdays in the community centre from 10 – 11 am. This training is suitable for male or females and caters for all levels of fitness, from beginners to the advances. Cost is €7 and all welcome to join in.
In the litter challenge Clonaslee lost to Timahoe. Clonaslee received 95 in the last judging for a total for 292. Timahoe received 99 for a total of 297. Disappointing result for Clonaslee. Full report published later. Work evenings on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at the Heritage Centre at 6 pm each week so if anyone has an hour to spare please come along. Judging for the national and federation is taking place at the moment so please be vigilant and keep the village clean and tidy. Thank you to everyone for the support. ‘Work4You’ set up by Acquired Brain Injury Ireland provides a free vocational assessment service for individuals who have an acquired brain injury and would like assistance and guidance in returning to work, training or education. It is free to anyone with an acquired brain injury and in receipt of a payment from the Dept of Social Protection. If you are interested in the service or would like more information, Work4You are holding a pop-up information stand in Mountrath Library on Wednesday July 9 between 10.30am -1pm and in Rathdowney Library on same date.

Laois walks festival
On Thursday July 10 there is a Grade B walk at Ricket’s Rock, Clonaslee.
This 10 km walk takes 2 and a half hours through the Slieve Blooms passing Rickets Rock waterfall.
