DEFIBRILLATOR GROUP AGM
The AGM of the defibrillator group will take place in St Canice’s Hall, across from Kelly’s next Thursday 18 Sept at 8pm. Any interested groups or individuals such as sports/fitness trainers, members of the GAA, ladies football, women’s walking group etc are very welcome to attend. We also need individuals living in Borris and the surrounding areas to train to keep this vital service available in our village. SOCIAL IN KILLASMEESTIA
A social will take place in Killasmeestia Community Centre on this Friday night September 19 with music by J and S Sound. Dancing will be from 9.30pm to 12.30am and supper will be served.
Get winter fit! Play badminton - the world’s fastest racket sport. Every Monday and Wednesday nights from 8pm -10pm in the new school hall. Monday nights are for beginners and improvers . Come along any night and give it a go.
Over 18’s only. The entrance to the hall is at the back of the school.
The annual coffee morning in aid of Laois Hospice Foundation will take place on Friday September 19 in St Canice’s Hall from 10am-1.30pm. Please come along and support this worthy cause.
A coffee evening, also in aid of Laois Hospice Foundation will be held in Knockaroo Community Hall on Thursday evening. Support will be very much appreciated.
THE LATE MRS PHYLLIS RUSSELL RIP
The death took place on Sunday September 7 of Mrs Phyllis Russell (née Maher), Church Street, Borris in Ossory, Co. Laois and formerly of Limerick Street, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary. Her remains reposed at her residence until removal on Tuesday to St Canice’s Church Borris-in-Ossory.
Her funeral mass took place on Wednesday morning followed by burial afterwards in St Cronan’s Cemetery, Roscrea.
The late Phyllis, who was predeceased by her husband Eamon some years ago, is deeply regretted by her sister Dina and her loving family.
A sincere thank you is extended to everyone who contributed to the recent church gate collection in aid of Concern which was taken up at all churches in Borris in Ossory parish on Saturday and Sunday August 30 and 31. A total amount of €512 was collected for this very worthy cause.
