THE POOR CLARES. Special events to mark the 800 Anniversary will take place later this year. Carlow Town Council will host a civic reception in St Clare’s on Saturday April 14. Cardinal Brady will celebrate Mass in St Clare’s on Saturday June 30 and then the celebrations will continue with the Triduum of prayer from August 8 to 10 and conclude with the celebration of the feast day of St Clare on August 11.

CHURCH SERVICES FOR LENT, HOLY WEEK AND EASTER

Holy Thursday 10am, Morning Prayer in St Clare’s, 7pm, Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper in Holy Cross. Children preparing for First Holy Communion will participate at this Mass; 7.30pm, evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper in St Clare’s, commissioning of new Eucharistic Ministers. Confessions after each Mass and Solemn Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in St Clare’s until 10pm followed by Night Prayer in St Clare’s. Good Friday: April 6; 10am, Morning Prayer in St Clare’s Church. 3pm, Celebration of the Lord’s Passion in St Clare’s Church. 5pm, Celebration of the Lord’s Passion in Holy Cross Church, Confessions after each service. 7pm, Children’s Stations and Veneration of the Cross in St Clare’s followed by the Ecumenical Way of the Cross which will make its way to St Mary’s Cathedral and the Cathedral of the Assumption via Maryborough Street and will process through the Park where they will stop on a number of occasions for reflection. Children preparing for First Holy Communion in St Clare’s will participate at this Service. Holy Saturday: April 07; 10am Morning Prayer in St Clare’s Church. 10am to 11am Confessions in St Clare’s Church. 8pm, Easter Vigil Mass in St Clare’s Church. Confirmation children will participate at this Mass. Easter Sunday 6am, Easter Dawn Mass at Oísin House, Rossmore. Arrive no later than 5.45am. Masses at 9am, 11.30am in St Clare’s Church and 10.15am in Holy Cross, Killeshin.

LENTEN LUNCH

Lenten Lunch will take place on Friday April 06 from 12.30 to 2pm in St Fiacc’s House. All proceeds will go to Sr Goretti Eye Clinic in Kenya.  All are welcome.

FREE BEGINNER COMPUTER COURSES

RETURN TO WORK OR FURTHER EDUCATION

St Catherine’s Community Services Centre’s preparation for work Course 2012 starts Monday April 16, now enrolling. The course runs from Monday to Friday, 9.45am to 1.00 pm for ten weeks. PRIESTS COLLECTION

The quarterly collection for the support of the priests of the parish will be taken up at all masses over the Easter weekend. Envelopes are in envelope boxes or alternatively you can use the special envelopes available at the church doors.

KILLESHIN FC

There was no winner of the recent lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 02, 11, 13 and 24. The four lucky dip winners were Jim Hanley, Emma Burroughs, Derek Mara and Postman Mick each will receive €25 and the sellers prize was won by Farmer Byrne. Next jackpot stands at €3,600 and tickets are available for €2 from any club member or local shop and public houses.

Variety Night plus supper in aid of our Parish Evergreens’ on Friday April 20 in St Fiacc’s Hall. They are looking for volunteers to host a table of ten. Night will consist of a supper and Cabaret Show,

NEW EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS

Fourteen adults and six young people have completed their training and will be commissioned on Holy Thursday at the Mass of the Last Supper. We thank them for volunteering and we ask God’s Blessing on them in this special ministry.
