The Slieve Bloom Association Annual Christmas Dinner is on Sunday November 30 at 3pm in the Swan, Clonaslee. Three course meal, music & entertainment. To join callMatt 087 6726290 before November 27. Thank you to all who supported our recent church gate collection and to all the collectors. Total amount €505.50. It goes towards the annual Christmas dinner for the elderly on Sunday December 7 at 1pm in the Community Centre. Music by Rock On Paddy. The following was discussed at the recent CCDA meeting: More books were purchased from the sale of books, knit and chat club up and running and going well. Great response from patchwork class, one day workshop full, additional classes starting in January. Frank McRedmond thanked the CCDA and all his other sponsors who sponsored him for sheaf throwing in Australia. Frank came third in the world out of 29 participants. Congratulations Frank. Welcome to the new FAS supervisor Caitriona Ryan and we wish Patricia Sheed every happiness in her retirement. Vote of sympathy to all who had recent bereavements.


Next trip is on December 4. Bus leaving Clonaslee at 5:45 pm collecting in Rosenallis and Mountmellick. €15 return. Tea and sandwiches if desired €5 pp. The last two visits were devotion nights to Padre Pio. If interested call 087-212-2766.


The CCE have five beginner button accordions and one fiddle available to rent for the year. This gives the child a chance to try the instrument before they purchase their own. Classes are on Thursdays from 4:15pm, beginners from 6 pm in the Community Centre. Call 085-285-1772.


Lessons in social dancing, waltz, quickstep, foxtrot, jive and slosh continuing each Tuesday from 8-9:30 pm at An Sean Chistin, Irey, Ballyfin. Call 087-648-2038.
