Slieve Bloom Dinner
The Slieve Bloom Association Annual Christmas Dinner is on Sunday November 30 at 3pm in the Swan, Clonaslee. The reasonably priced 3 course meal, will be followed by music & entertainment. Next meeting is in the Green School, Rosenallis on January 22.
Mountmellick Christmas Tree committee hope to switch on the tree lights on Friday November 28. The church gate collection is on Saturday and Sunday November 29 & 30. Again this year, the committee will finance the assembly and illumination of the Christmas tree in the square and bring Santa to town to distribute presents to over 600 school children. The annual flag days will be on Friday and Saturday December 5 & 6. These will again enable the committee to give fuel to the senior citizens in Mountmellick for Christmas.

St Vincent de Paul Holy Family Conference Mountmellick is holding its annual church gate collection at all masses on Saturday and Sunday December 6 & 7. Please give generously and help those in our parish in need at these difficult times.
MISSION ALIVE QUIZ
The annual Mission Alive table quiz will take place in the Druid Bar on Thursday December 4 at 9.30 p.m. Tables of four €20. Michael Linehan is quiz master. Proceeds to the AIDS/ HIV Orphan project in Lusaka in Zambia. Donations of raffle prizes most appreciated. We hope all our supporters will join us for the 2014 quiz.

A jumble sale and raffles will be held in the Owenass Hall on Sunday November 30, 11am to 4pm to raise funds for gymnasts of Mountmellick Gymnastics Club to compete on the national competitive circuit. A stakeholder meeting for the William Edmundson & Friends Gathering July 2015 will be held on Thursday December 4 in the Arts Centre from 7.30pm to 9pm. There will be a strong emphasis on promoting Mountmellick and ‘traditional Ireland’ during this 5 day event. 80+ overseas visitors have confirmed their attendance. CHOIR CD LAUNCH
St Joseph’s Sunday Choir will launch their new CD in the Arts Centre on Thursday December 11 at 8pm. The CD costs €10 with all profits going to the Cuisle Cancer Support Centre, Portlaoise. There are 12 hymns on the CD. It would make an ideal Christmas present.
SARSFIELDS LADIES Fc
The officers & committee of Sarsfields would like to express their appreciation to the senior team and management for their dedication and commitment throughout 2014. They also say a big ‘thank you’ to the very enthusiastic band of supporters who travelled to Cork last weekend to cheer on the team in the All-Ireland semi-final. Despite the defeat to Mourneabbey, it has been a remarkable year for the Club and everyone involved can look back on 2014 with a sense of achievement and look forward confidently to 2015.
The Scout group is developing a calendar for 2016 depicting scouting through the years in Mountmellick, on sale soon.
Practice on Monday nights at 8.45pm and Wednesday nights at 8.30pm in the Macra hall. Hard luck to the men’s grade 6 team who lost 4-0 to Royston. Well done to the ladies who drew 2-2 with Kildare. To join call Trevor 087 9143226.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday December 3 in the MDA. As this is the Club’s last meeting before Christmas, we will have music, mince pies, raffle, etc. and look forward to meeting everybody.

LATE SHEILA FITZPATRICK
There death of Sheila Fitzpatrick (neé McCartney) on Saturday November 15 occasioned much sadness. Sheila will be most fondly remembered by all who knew her. Remains reposed at her residence in Ashgrove, Mountmellick until removal on Monday morning to St Joseph’s Church. Requiem Mass was celebrated at noon with private cremation afterwards at Newlands Cross Crematorium Dublin. The sincere sympathy of the community is extended to Sheila’s sons, brothers, family, relatives and friends.
