PUBLIC MEETING

There will be a public meeting to discuss the future of Killeshin Hall and Old School on Wednesday August 22 at 8pm in Killeshin Hall.

FAREWELL TO FR P J MADDEN

Fr PJ leaves at the end of the month to take up his new appointment as Curate in Naas Parish. He has ministered in this parish for the past three years and has touched everyone with his spirituality, good humour and dedicated service. Masses of thanksgiving and farewell will be held on Saturday August 25 at 6.30pm in St Clare’s and on Sunday August 26 at 10.15am in Holy Cross. Refreshments after both masses, Saturday in the parish centre and on Sunday in Killeshin parish hall and all are invited.

YOUTH PILGRIMAGE

Well done to the 50 young people who travelled last week on the pilgrimage to Galway. The Young people had faith filled and fun filled experience. The highlight of their pilgrimage was celebrating mass with the Poor Clare Community in Galway and meeting the sisters afterwards for discussion. A special thank you to Áine Shiels and Cathriona Kelly, our parish Youth co-ordinators who did a great job organising the pilgrimage. Thanks to Orla, Ciara and Sarah our other adult leaders for travelling and to Michael Brennan and Pat Kinsella our bus driver’s. Thanks also to Knockbeg Collage and St Fiacc’s house for the use of their buses

FIACC’S FOLK MAGAZINE

We are now accepting items for the Fiacc’s Folk. Please submit any articles or photographs that you would like to be considered for inclusion in the next edition of our parish magazine. KILLESHIN FC LOTTO

There was no winner of the recent lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 05, 15, 22 and 27. The four winners of the lucky dips were Eddie Hand, Jamie Byrne, Joe Whelan and Brendan Nolan, each will receive €25 and the seller’s prize of €25 was won by Colm Fitzgerald. The jackpot for next draw stands at €5,500 and tickets can be purchased from any club member or from the local shop or public houses at a cost of €2 per ticket.

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK

As part of National Mental Health Awareness Week, September 16 to 22, organised by Laois Community Forum the following events will take place in our Parish. Sunday September 16, 6km walk at Rossmore, assemble for 12.30 in Oisín Park. Details from Mary Hennessy 0872581016. Then on Monday September 17 there will be a 4km walk at Graiguecullen, assemble at Shamrock Business Park for 7pm. Details from Sean Kelly 0879103930. The third event will be on Thursday September 20, a seminar in Graiguecullen Parish Centre, “Living with Loss in our Lives” at 8pm and the speaker will be Rita Kelly of the H.S.E.

ST PATS BOYS A.F.C.

Anybody interested in playing soccer in the Carlow and District Football League for the forthcoming 2012/13 season, St Patrick’s Boys are back training and would welcome new and existing junior players, men’s, for their first, second and youth teams. Training takes place every Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7pm to 9pm and on Sunday mornings from 11am to 1pm in the Meadows on the Sleaty Road, Graiguecullen. GRAIGUECULLEN GAA

Numbers drawn were 08, 14, 29 and 32. There was no Jackpot winner so the next Jackpot will be €10,000, Reserve €10,000. There were two Match 3 winners of €100 each; Ciaran O’Toole c/o Goose and Phyl Brennan c/o Paddy Brennan. Sellers prize of €20 each went to Chucky, Deanoz and Seamus Nolan.

Graiguecullen Parish Childcare Centre is taking enrolments for the free ECCE preschool year for September 2012. There are also reduced rate and sub vented places, (CCS and GETS), in their preschool for the year prior to the ECCE Preschool year. Enrolment forms for Graiguecullen Parish Childcare Centre are now available in the office or can be downloaded from the website.
